Illinois voters have the opportunity in the 2020 General Election to decide whether to change the State Constitution so that the state income tax can be taxed at a graduated rate, or not to change it and to continue to tax income at a flat rate. The vote will be on the ballot as "Proposed Amendment to Section 3 of Article IX of the Illinois Constitution."
Concerned Citizens, Jane Lehmann, Marrleis Trover, along with Barb Baily, Patti Jones, and Candice McLaughlin from Macomb, IL, are co-hosting a Fair Tax Zoom Event on the proposed amendment. Ralph Martire, Executive Director of the Center for Tax and Budget Accountability (CTBA) will be the speaker and will talk about the rationale for the Amendment and the implications of passing the Amendment as well as if it is rejected. He will speak for approximately 40 minutes and there will be a Q&A session for the remaining 20 minutes. Questions will be gathered via the "Chat" area in the Zoom.
The event is free, but registration is required. Space is limited and admission will be on a first come, first served basis, so if you are interested in attending, please register early. As soon as you register, you will receive the link to the Zoom meeting. REGISTER HERE
